Lars Wheeler

March means its Autumn!

Often think that this time of year is time to slow down gardening. Well, I am going to tell you that it isn’t, it’s just the beginning of a new garden!

For the Flower Lovers, especially for our every hardworking Bee’s, now is the time to plant flowers such as: alyssum, calendula, carnations, daisies, lobelia, nasturtium, nemesia, pansy, poppy, primula, schizanthus, snapdragon, sweet pea, cosmos, and viola just to name a few.

If Vege’s are your forte’ then now is the time to plant root vegetables like: Broccoli, Cabbage, Leeks, Parsnips, Turnips, Onions, and Carrots. These are just a few that you can start with.

What about Fruit Tree’s? there are a variety of fruit tree’s that can be planted during Autumn, such as: Peaches’, Cherries, Apples and Plums, but don’t be concerned if they lose their leaves, as these varieties are all deciduous. In addition, to these you can still get away in some areas of the warmer areas of Australia, with planting Fruit trees like our favourites, Oranges, Lemons, Nectarines, Grapefruits and even Persimmons.

There you have it, the 5min “don’t stop gardening because its Autumn”, Get the gloves back on and dig in and get Dirty.
